After taking portraits on the beach you'll be hungry and thirsty, and you're looking good. You've probably also promised the kids something sweet. Here's my list of places to go after a session in the Destin and 30A areas of the Emerald Coast.
The Red Bar
70 Hotz Avenue
Grayton Beach, Florida
This restaurant has been my favorite for years! I don't get to go as often as I would like, but when I do, I always get the Pane' Chicken. The Red Bar is an awesome, fun, and funky location. This is a fantastic place to go for a date after a session. Older kids might enjoy it, too.
The Craft Bar
170 E County Hwy 30A Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Open until 11:00 P.M., this is a great choice for those July beach sessions that end with a late sunset.
Grayton Seafood Co
50 Uptown Grayton Circle
Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
A quaint atmosphere with good portions for the price. This location isn't far from Grayton Beach State Park and is open until 9:00 P.M.
Bud & Alley's
2236 CR 30A Seaside, Florida
"Good people. Good food. Good times." I've had a good time every time we've eaten there! Open until 9:30, this is another great one for those late beach sessions.
The Creamery of Blue Mountain Beach
2129 S Co Hwy 83 Santa Rosa Beach, Florida https://www.facebook.com/BMBCreamery/
This is a walk-up, cash only place with absolutely fantastic ice cream on Old Blue Mountain Beach road (County highway 83). Easily accessed from 30A. The Blue Mountain Beach Creamery is open until 10:00 P.M. and is the perfect place to reward little people for all of their hugs and smiles!
Heavenly's Shortcakes and Ice-cream
63 Central Square Santa Rosa Beach, Florida www.sweetwilliamsltd.com
An adorable location in Seaside, they also have delicious cookies!
The Surfing Deer
2743 County Hwy 30A
Santa Rosa Beach, FL
I'll be honest. I saw the name of this restaurant and thought it was…. Oh, I don't know. But, I wasn't intrigued enough to make it a point to stop in and try it out. However, it was within walking distance from a large group portrait session my husband and I had worked on the beach and we made a date out of it. We only had martinis at the bar, but they were awesome! I loved the atmosphere and the service was really great. They were so friendly! Give it at try, but I'd consider keeping the littles with a sitter.
The Hub 30A
24 Hub Lane
Watersound Beach, Florida
A fun and family friendly place! I've been told the nachos are amazing. It's on my list of places to visit this summer on 30A. I had to add it here first because I've heard so many good things about it.
Destin & Miramar Beach Areas
This list will mostly name places that are convenient to Highway 98. I know that summertime traffic in Destin can be a bit rough, so I hope to cut down on travel time for my clients who have beach sessions and children.
220 Harbor Blvd
Right by the Destin Harbor Boardwalk, this is a chain ice cream shop that all kids love.
4142 Legendary Drive
Located in the Destin Commons, this is a great location for kids, as well. You'll find Kilwins next to the AMC Movie Theater, and across the traffic circle from the Destin Common's splash pad. Take those sandy toddlers and little kids out for a late night ice-cream treat and some fun on the playground and splash pad! Bring towels. ;) This is one of the things my husband and I do with our 4 kids regularly during the summer.
Bruster's Real Ice Cream
4655 Gulstarr Drive
You can see Bruster's from highway 98, it's very easy to find! This is another late night treat that has fresh ice cream made daily.
538 Harbor Blvd
An old Destin favorite that is actually on highway 98 and easy to find. They have valet parking and awesome service. My husband and I have been eating here for years!
